My name is Daniel Eede and I’m the head of the NJC vertical team.

My career has been built around rope access (abseiling), and has taken me to a wide range of environments including nuclear power plants, North Sea oil rigs, sports stadia and huge office buildings. I worked in Dubai for 7 years, where I managed the cleaning and maintenance of some of the tallest buildings in the world.

I have now returned to the UK and am looking forward to helping to grow the NJC vertical business and improving my working at height management experience.

What does your role involve?

I lead the NJC vertical cleaning and maintenance team, one of the largest independent teams in London and the South East and I oversee all operational aspects of our working at height practices. I have been involved with IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) for the past 19 years, including holding the position of IRATA chairman whilst I was in Dubai. I am leading the NJC IRATA membership process, which includes ensuring that all our procedures and processes comply with their code of practice.

What’s your favourite thing about your job?

I enjoy the ever changing environment of the FM industry and the professional people we work alongside and meet along the way. NJC self-delivers all vertical cleaning and it is great to lead an experienced team, who are responsible for the exterior appearance of some of London’s most prestigious and complex buildings.

What is the most challenging aspect of what you do?

You never know what the English weather will throw at you, and it has a major impact on our work. Wind, heavy rain and snow can all have a significant impact on working at height so we need to be flexible and work around the climate challenges.

In 2020, we’ll all be talking about?

NJC will be at the forefront of IRATA membership, which will enable us to take our vertical division to the next stage and help us to grow significantly. Façade inspections and building maintenance work at height will have increased significantly, as well as developing business in new sectors.

Personally, I want to ensure that NJC is working in close support to major organisations in London, and participating in industry associations and trade bodies.

Of course, we will be expert in the use of robotics.

Where will we find you when you are not at work?

Living the dream with my 2 beautiful daughters and supportive wife in Kent.
