Designed to encourage multi-stakeholder participation, and at the heart of community building, the public realm is likely to attract over 100,000 visitors per annum. This requires an approach that ensures that the cleaning and maintenance of all public thoroughfares is to the highest standards, whilst being highly sensitive to the risks and threats of operating in a public environment.
NJC has extensive experience in managing mixed-use developments, developed through years of operating some of London’s most high-profile destinations. There is a requirement to provide staff who are not just cleaners, who operate in an ambassadorial style, providing services around the often-competing demands of retailers, occupiers, visitors and residents. Through high levels of customers service training, the identification of appropriate, scheme specific equipment and demand lead resource planning, NJC are able to ensure that every mixed-use location is clean, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
With the multitude of stakeholders, the importance of first class customer service and maintaining estate public thoroughfares to the highest standards cannot be overstated. NJC carries out extensive customer service training with all employees and regularly updates this, through team meetings, tool box talks and mystery shopper processes. In addition, NJC has invested heavily in management skills, and pre-deployment and vocational training, including expertise in advanced machinery and equipment.
The public realm service requirement is extensive, ranging from corporate office, a wide range of hard surface maintenance and cleaning, water and artistic features, grass cutting, and winter gritting and snow clearance. Regular patrols of external areas are carried out during each cleaning shift, to ensure that high standards are maintained, and appropriate equipment is deployed to ensure high levels of productivity. Most of the distruptive estate cleaning activities, such as pressure washing and scrubber drying, will be conducted during the latter part of the night shift when public usage is minimal. In addition, teams are provided with equipment to minimise noise, such as a Lithium ion powered leaf blower/ vacuum, which enables them to collect litter and cigarette butts.
We ensure that our teams are equipped to deal with the service scope and customer complexity of modern mixed-use developments, whatever the season. We also train all employees to work in conjunction with security service partners, to prevent unauthorised access to private areas and be vigilant for suspect packages left in the public realm.
