NJC are passionate about the training and development of our colleagues at all levels of our business.

Training and development is the framework for helping employees to develop their skills, knowledge and abilities to meet current and future objectives.

In commercial cleaning training, process, product and customer service are all essential. We place significant importance on developing people centric skills and the attitude and capability of our colleagues to deliver world class standards. Management and supervisory skills are key to achieving our customer’s strategic and operational requirements, and training and development supports employees who move into these roles.

We support colleagues who wish to undertake further education and professional courses, as long as this is related to our business goals. We have been working with West London College since 2018 to upskill employees using the Team Leader/ Supervisor and Operations/ Departmental Manager apprenticeship standards. Many of the employees who have undergone training using apprenticeships to access Chartered Management Institute (CMI) qualifications have achieved distinctions in their studies.

Training Process

Our managers are responsible for identifying the training needs of their team members to support them in achieving their individual objectives and goals. This informs the annual training plan, which includes internal and external training courses, as well as the on-job training. Our business process management system is used to manage and control role-specific employee training and provides individual training records on demand. Business process control within the technology ensures that all training, obligatory and elective, is carried out and refreshed at pre-determined intervals, and attendance and attainment is recorded.

Induction and Refresher Training

All new starters receive company, customer and on-the-job induction training, as appropriate to their role. Inductions cover health, safety and environmental training, company policies and procedures, introductions to colleagues, familiarisation with the working environment, and commercial cleaning task training.

New training needs are identified when:

  • A person joins the company, changes their position or undertakes new responsibilities.
  • Products/processes are introduced or altered, or there is a change to legislation.
  • Performance appraisals or audits draw attention to a need.

Approved Training Provider

NJC is approved as an Assessment Centre for the BICSc Cleaning Operators' standards. NJC is also a corporate member of the BICSc and adheres to its Cleaning Standards and Codes of Practice.
