About NJC
NJC is a family business. Everyone who works at NJC becomes part of the extended family.
The company was founded in 1984 by Connie Heppelthwaite, the mother of our current Co-CEOs. Using money from her widow's benefit to buy cleaning materials and equipment, Connie secured a small contract in Reading – two cleaners for two hours each evening, and she was one of those cleaners. All three of her sons have worked in the business, along with two of their wives.
Connie always called NJC her "survival kit". It enabled her to provide for her three boys and keep food on the table. She still finds it hard to believe that NJC now cleans some of the UK's most impressive premises and works with such fantastic customers when the business began from such humble beginnings.
While NJC has grown significantly, the values that inspired its creation remain the same. What began as one person's way of supporting her family has become a business that supports hundreds of people, their families, our customers and the communities we serve.
Today, NJC exists to go beyond cleaning, creating environments where people feel respected and supported, businesses can perform at their best and services are delivered responsibly with care for the environment. We believe that every clean, safe and well-maintained workplace has a positive impact on the people who use it, and that the way those services are delivered matters just as much as the result.
In many ways, Connie's original purpose hasn't changed. NJC is still helping people build better lives and create opportunities for themselves and their families. We simply have a much broader opportunity to make a positive difference than we did in 1984.
Our team
I joined NJC in 2016 as a Cleaning Operative, and over the years, the company has given me countless opportunities to grow, learn, and develop my skills. Today, I am proud to serve as an Account Manager, a position I’ve achieved thanks to the incredible support, guidance, and patience from the team.
I’m especially grateful that NJC believed in me when no one else did. It’s truly a great company to work for, and I’m thankful for everything they’ve done for me.

We’re not in it for the silverware. But it’s always nice to be recognised for a job well done. We are proud to be the recipients of a number of industry awards, including six consecutive years as winners of the internationally prized RoSPA Health and Safety Gold Award.
We offer both routine and specialist cleaning services, for interior and exterior environments. These include routine cleaning, deep cleaning, window and gutter cleaning, pressure washing, and much more. Many of our services require specialist training, equipment and knowledge.
