Environmental
NJC recognises that climate change will not only impact our forests, coral reefs, wildlife, or even people in other countries, but all of us. To create a world where people, wildlife and nature can thrive, not only for us but for future generations, it is critical that businesses understand the importance of reducing their environmental impact and supporting the transition to a low-carbon future.
Our Climate Action Plan sets out a clear pathway towards achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Through annual carbon footprint measurement, targeted emissions reduction initiatives and ongoing investment in sustainable technologies, we are working to reduce emissions across our operations and supply chain while supporting the global ambition to limit warming to 1.5°C.
Sustainability is embedded throughout our service delivery. We continue to expand the use of COSHH-free cleaning solutions, closed-loop recycling initiatives, energy-efficient equipment and innovative technologies that help reduce waste, resource consumption and environmental impact. These initiatives enable us to deliver safer, more sustainable services while supporting our clients in addressing their own environmental and Scope 3 emissions challenges.
By reducing reliance on hazardous chemicals wherever possible, we help protect the health and wellbeing of our colleagues, clients and building users, whilst contributing to cleaner, healthier and more sustainable workplaces.
Social
Our social values are fundamental to our ESG impact. We believe businesses have a responsibility to create positive outcomes for the communities and environments in which they operate. Through volunteering, fundraising, environmental initiatives and community partnerships, we aim to make a meaningful difference beyond the services we deliver.
In 2026, we launched our first nationwide Community Clean initiative in partnership with Keep Britain Tidy, bringing together colleagues, clients and partners to support local communities across multiple UK cities. Together, our teams collected more than 45kg of litter, helping to improve public spaces while promoting environmental awareness and community engagement.
We are also committed to supporting biodiversity and enhancing the environments in which we work. Working alongside our clients, we have helped deliver initiatives including wildflower planting projects that create valuable habitats for pollinators, improve local biodiversity and reduce maintenance-related emissions. We have also supported the installation of beehives at client locations, helping to encourage healthy ecosystems and raise awareness of the vital role pollinators play in our environment.
Supporting charitable causes remains an important part of our culture. Through fundraising activities, including our London to Brighton cycle challenge and other team-led events, we have raised thousands of pounds for charitable organisations and causes that matter to our people and local communities.
Alongside these initiatives, we continue to support charities and programmes that help individuals facing barriers to employment and work closely with our people, clients and partners to create lasting social value wherever we operate.

Governance
Good governance is at the heart of responsible business. It provides the framework through which we make decisions, manage risk, uphold ethical standards and remain accountable to our people, customers, suppliers and communities.
At NJC, we believe strong governance is essential to delivering meaningful environmental and social impact. Through clear policies, transparent reporting and effective oversight, we ensure our commitments are translated into action and continuous improvement.
Creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace is a key part of this approach. We are committed to fostering a culture where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, disability, LGBTQ+ identity, socio-economic background or any other characteristic.
We regularly review and report on our ESG performance, climate commitments and business practices to ensure we continue to operate responsibly, transparently and in line with our values.
